Internationally renowned security company Kaspersky Lab has a lots of security solutions to offer, including one that is meant to keep your children safe. I am of course talking about Kaspersky Safe Kids, a security solution that aims to provide answers to the question “do you have any clue what your children do?” and the question “sure your child is doing right things online?”

Kaspersky Safe Kids puts the following bits of functionality at your disposal: protect children from inappropriate websites and online content; receive notifications when children try to access restricted websites; limit the amount of time children spend online; locate children in real-time; view detailed activity reports and set up protection rules from the My Kaspersky web portal.

Kaspersky Safe Kids is available for desktop and mobile platforms. And more to the point, it is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system, for Apple’s Mac OS X and iOS, and for Google’s mobile operating system. The fact that Kaspersky Safe Kids is available for multiple platforms is a good thing. It means you can install it on your child’s mobile and on your child’s PC/Mac.

Let’s focus on what it takes to install Kaspersky Safe Kids on a Windows PC, shall we? As expected, a setup wizard will guide you through the whole process. If the wizard detects incompatible software, it will notify you and it will offer to remove it. The wizard will also notify you to turn off the parental control feature if you are using Kaspersky Total Security or Kaspersky Internet Security. Please note that a restart is required for the install to complete.

To get started with Kaspersky Safe Kids, you’ll need to do more than just install a piece of software. You’ll also have to sign into your My Kaspersky account. If you don’t have one, you can easily and quickly create one. After you create an account and use it to sign into Kaspersky Safe Kids, you will be asked “who will Kaspersky Safe Kids protect on this computer?” and you’ll also be asked “which account does [child name] use on this computer?”
